New Mexico, part of the Four Corners region, has 18 National Parks which include Carlsbad Caverns National Park, Chaco Culture National Historical Park, Manhattan Project National Historical Park, Pecos National Historical Park, Aztec Ruins National Monument, Bandelier National Monument, Capulin Volcano National Monument, El Malpais National Monument, El Morro National Monument, Fort Union National Monument, Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument, Petroglyph National Monument, Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument, White Sands National Park, El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro National Historic Trail, Old Spanish National Historic Trail, Santa Fe National Historic Trail and Valles Caldera National Preserve.
Additionally, there are 34 State Parks, 7 National Forests, 9 National Wildlife Refuges, 4 Wild & Scenic Rivers, 1,100 Places listed on the National Register of Historic Places, 46 National Historic Landmarks, 12 National Natural Landmarks, and 1 National Heritage Area.
