SANTA FE NATIONAL FOREST

A four-season destination with plenty of outdoor recreation, the Santa Fe National Forest in New Mexico, encompasses 1.6 million acres and is home to the headwaters of Pecos, Jemez, and Gallinas Rivers, as well as the Pecos, San Pedro Parks, Chama, and Dome Wildernesses. If you are in Santa Fe, it’s just a 15-minute drive from downtown, up NM 475, past Hyde Memorial State Park, and into a pristine forest magic-land complete with trickling streams and mini waterfalls, summer wildflowers, and lush green meadows. The road ends at Ski Santa Fe, a popular winter skiing venue.
