Virginia National Parks include Chesapeake Bay Watershed, the largest estuary in North America; Shenandoah National Park, Great Falls Park, Green Springs, and Prince William Forest Park. There are 10 historical parks, Appomattox Court House National Historical Park, Cape Henry Memorial, part of Colonial National Historical Park, Cedar Creek & Belle Grove National Historical Park, Cumberland Gap National Historical Park, Harpers Ferry National Historical Park, Historic Jamestowne part of Colonial National Historical Park, Yorktown Battlefield, part of Colonial National Historical Park, and Maggie L Walker National Historic Site.
There also National Monuments, Memorials and Military Parks and Battlefield Parks, Arlington House, The Robert E. Lee Memorial, Booker T. Washington National Monument, Fort Monroe National Monument, George Washington Birthplace National Monument, Fredericksburg & Spotsylvania National Military Park, Manassas National Battlefield Park, Petersburg National Battlefield, and Richmond National Battlefield Park.
There are 2 Parkways, the Blue Ridge Parkway and the George Washington Memorial Parkway, plus 6 National Trails; the Appalachian National Scenic Trail, the Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail, the Captain John Smith Chesapeake National Historic Trail, the Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail, the Star-Spangled Banner National Historic Trail, and the Washington-Rochambeau National Historic Trail.
The rest of the park units include the Assateague Island National Seashore, the Civil War Defenses of Washington, the Claude Moore Colonial Farm and the Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts.
In addition, there are 38 State Parks and 24 State Forests, 2 National Forests, and 14 National Wildlife Refuges. There are also 3027 Places listed on the National Register of Historic Places, 120 National Historic Landmarks, 10 National Natural Landmarks, and 1 World Heritage Site.
