Nebraska is home to 11 national park units, five of the park units rest on historic trails. There are 2 National Forests and 1 National Grassland, 17 state parks, 66 state recreational areas, 1 state historic trail, 10 National Forests and Grasslands, 7 National Wildlife Refuges, 2 Wild and Scenic Rivers, more than 1,100 properties and districts that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places, with 20 of those being National Historic Landmarks. There are also 5 places listed as National Natural Landmarks.
National park units include Agate Fossil Beds National Monument, California National Historic Trail, Chimney Rock National Historic Site, Homestead National Monument of America, Lewis & Clark National Historic Trail, Missouri National Recreational River, Mormon Pioneer National Historic Trail, Niobrara National Scenic River, Oregon National Historic Trail, the Pony Express National Historic Trail, and Scotts Bluff National Monument.
