Montana is home to Yellowstone National Park and Glacier National Park National Park. These two parks draw nearly 13 million annual visitors. Historic sites include Fort Union Trading Post National Historic Site, Grant-Kohrs Ranch National Historic Site, Nez Perce National Historical Park, Big Hole National Battlefield and Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument. There is also 1 recreational area, the Bighorn Canyon National Recreation AreaTwo national trails run through Montana, the Ice Age Floods National Geologic Trail and the Lewis & Clark National Historic Trail.

In addition, there are 55 State Parks to enjoy, 10 National Forests, 28 National Wildlife Refuges, 4 Wild and Scenic Rivers, and there are approximately49 trails covering 297 miles. There are 1173 places listed on the National Register of Hisotric Places, 28 National Historic Landmarks, 10 National Natural Landmarks and the Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park, partially in Montana (Glacier National Park) and partially in Canada, is designated a World Heritage Site.
