Wyoming is home to 11 National Park Units. The most iconic are the Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park. Four major National Trails journey through Wyoming, they are the California National Historic Trail, Mormon Pioneer National Historic Trail, Oregon National Historic Trail and the Pony Express National Historic Trail.
National Park Units also include 2 monuments, Devils Tower National Monument and Fossil Butte National Monument; 1 recreation area, the Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area; 1 historic site, Fort Laramie National Historic Site; and 1 parkway, the John D Rockefeller Jr Memorial Parkway.
In addition, there are 12 State Parks and 25 State Historic Sites. There are 5 National Forests, 7 National Wildlife Refuges, and 2 Wild & Scenic Rivers. There are 55 places listed on the National Register of Historic Places, 27 National Historic Landmarks, 6 National Natural Landmarks, and 1 World Heritage Site.
