Exeter, a gateway destination to Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks in central California, is known as one of America’s Prettiest Painted Places due to its Downtown Mural Tour. The historic brick buildings make a great surface for the 30+ large murals you will find as you stroll throughout Exeter’s charming downtown district. The murals were painted by professional muralists from all over the country. This unique outdoor gallery reflect the history and culture of this pretty little town. The town adds 2-3 murals every year, through the efforts of the volunteer group, “Exeter-A Festival of Arts.” The murals depict the history and spirit of Exeter, and each one has hidden symbol or image. In the early 20th century, Anna’s hummingbirds bred only in northern Baja California and southern California.
