SAN PEDRO RIPARIAN CONSERVATION AREA

Nestled between St. David and the Mexico border and located near Coronado National Memorial in Cochise County, Southeast Arizona, the San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area encompasses 57,000 acres of public land. Home to parts of the San Pedro River that runs through the Chihuahuan Desert and Sonoran Desert, this biodiverse area protects one of the most important desert riparian regions in country, and is a popular birding destination as a “Globally Important Bird Area”. Visitor activities include hiking and nature trails, birding watching, picnicking and camping.  You can also see historic sites including the historic San Pedro House and gift shop, and explore the native plant and xeriscape gardens.
