PINNACLES NATIONAL PARK TRAVEL GUIDE

Located in central California, Pinnacles National Park is about 50 miles inland from the Pacific Ocean and 140 miles south of the San Francisco Bay area. From lodging and dining to local attractions, events and activities, shops and services and more, here’s our travel guide to help you plan your Pinnacles National Park adventure!

The Park has two entrances. The East Entrance is on CA Hwy 146 coming from Hollister or King City, and the West Entrance is on CA Hey 146 coming from Soledad. Note, CA Hwy 146 does not run through the park, so you cannot drive through the park from one entrance to the other. San Benito County gateway communities on the eastern side include Paicines (approx. 17 miles), Tres Pinos (approx. 22 miles), Hollister (approx. 30 miles), and San Juan Bautista (approx. 37 miles). Gilroy is approx. 50 miles north of the Park. The western side of the park is part of the Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail, and is near Soledad (approx. 10 miles), King City (approx. 25 miles), Salinas (approx. 40 miles) and Monterey (approx. 60 miles).

Along with exploring the park, the local communities offer outdoor activities such as bird watching and hiking, star gazing, golf and tennis. There are charming historic districts to explore, as well as boutique shopping, historic parks and museums, and a full calendar of events, fairs and festivals, and parades. An agricutural region, the area is also an upcoming wine tasting destination, and serves up a wide variety of dining options that range from fresh farm-to-table cuisine to tasty Mexican fare. Lodging includes RV and tent camping, bed and breakfast inns, farm and ranch stays, hotels and motels, and vacation rentals.
