Nevada has one National Heritage Area, 4 National Park Units, 3 National Trails, 27 State Parks, 1 National Forest (largest in the 48 states), 9 National Wildlife Refuges, 141,796 miles of river (none designated), 8 National Historic Landmarks, 6 National Natural Landmarks, and 17 places listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The three National Trails include the California National Historic TrailPony Express National Historic Trail, and the Old Spanish National Historic Trail. The National Park Units include Death Valley National Park, Great Basin National ParkLake Mead National Recreation Area and Tule Springs Fossil Beds National Monument.
