REACH SAN BENITO PARKS FOUNDATION

REACH San Benito Parks Foundation (Recreation, Exercise and Community Health) is a non-profit 501(c)3 established to facilitate a healthy community through the preservation and enhancement of parks, facilities, and recreation programs in San Benito County by:

– Collaborating with public and private agencies to provide cooperative recreational opportunities.

– Developing relationships to provide a diversity of park facilities and recreation programs for all ages and physical abilities.

– Securing funding and resources to enhance and sustain park facilities and recreation programs.

– Serving as an advocate for the economic, educational, and recreational needs of the community.

How you can get involved:

  • Whether you are a long-time San Benito County resident or new to the area, we invite you to join us as we do the important work of advocating for parks and trails right here where we live!  Last year’s REACH Across America Campaign saw resident and REACH Board member Jim Ostdick walk across the United States in a campaign to bring attention to the opportunities for trails that exist elsewhere but are lacking in San Benito County.  Many other similar communities across the country have tapped into the nationwide trail system and we could do the same!

What do we do?

  • Attend City and County governmental meetings and advocate for parks and trails.  Let your support for a new regional park be known!
  • Network with other agencies to spread a wider net of advocacy: like-minded groups must be aware of each other’s work for maximum impact.
  • Fundraise and write grants.
  • Volunteers are needed for all these activities.  Be a part of the change you wish to see.
