Located in Oceania and being the only state in the USA located outside of North America, Hawaii is our 50th state, receiving statehood on August 21, 1959. It is composed entirely of volcanic islands and is known as the “Aloha State.”

 

Hawaii has 5 National Parks in addition to 9 State Parks, 9 National Wildlife Refuges, 356 Places listed on the National Register of Historic Places, 33 Places listed as National Historic Landmarks, 7 National Natural Landmarks, and Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is also listed as a World Heritage Site.
