Children’s book author E. Andrew Martonyi’s affinity for travel, his constant search for new things to see, and his granddaughter’s fascination with his trips inspired him to study the U.S. map from a new angle. What he discovered and developed, he now shares with all children to help them learn the states with his books: ‘The Little Man In the Map: With Clues to Remember All 50 States’ and ‘The Little Man In the Map Teaches the State Capitals!’

These children’s geography books are designed to show families and educators that learning can, and should be fun.

After 25 years of creating and publishing “The Little Man in the Map” geography books for kids through Schoolside Press, author E. A. Martonyi is retiring. Says Andrew, “I thank everyone who has purchased, read, and used “The Little Man in the Map” books and teaching tools for being part of my journey in educating children about US geography. I hope these books get passed down through generations and that educating our youth is a top priority in our country.”

‘The Little Man In the Map: With Clues to Remember All 50 States’ features Mr. Mim, who takes the reader on a trip through the states. The book uses mnemonics and rhyming lessons to help readers of many ages easily learn the name, shape, and location of each of the U.S. states. Through clever word associations, simple, catchy rhymes, and humorous cartoon illustrations, E. Andrew Martonyi’s second book, ‘The Little Man In the Map Teaches the State Capitals!’ helps readers quickly and effectively learn and remember the capital city of each state.
